We couldn’t be more excited to reveal the Rodrigo Corral-designed cover for Henry Hoke’s novel Open Throat, which we’ll publish June 6, 2023! Open Throat is narrated by a lonely and lovable queer mountain lion living in the drought-devastated land under the Hollywood sign. Part indictment of climate change and inequality, part exploration of the indignities of sentience, it’s a book like no other, a read-it-in-a-sitting marvel of storytelling.

Catherine Lacey says that Open Throat is a “blinding spotlight beam of a book that I was completely unable and unwilling to put down,” while Chris Kraus calls it “original, fun, and completely awakening,” and “a devastating portrait of LA today.”
