This week we’re putting our support behind NYC Books Through Bars, a nonprofit collective that sends free books to incarcerated people across the country.

For the past 20 years, Books Through Bars has been dedicated to uplifting communities impacted by incarceration by working towards fostering book and information sharing between those who are incarcerated, connecting incarcerated people to activists and other members of their community in the outside world, and building communities between those affected in the outside world via their volunteer packing sessions. Greenlight Bookstore provides Books Through Bars with donated titles from their wishlist and the organization pays for delivery, so there’s no need to pay for shipping!
